Children's Zyrtec... anyone with experience?

DS has BAD allergies this year. He's two, nothing is helping so far. So his doctor said 1/2 tsp of Zyrtec daily to see if this helps. Has anyone given this to their toddler? What was your experience?

TIA. I'm always so nervous with medicine of ANY kind and DS.

Jacob is 2.5 and he has been on Zyrtec for a month now. It seems to be working and he has had no side effects.

DS broke out in a bad rash this week and the doctor said it was an environmental allergy - so we have been givng him 1/2 tsp of children't zyrtec...so far it seems to be helping and no side effects.

Johnny has it at night before bed because it can make them drowsy...he gets VERY sleepy half an hour after he gets it. But the dose lasts for 24 hours and he has been great since on it!

Marron started on it about 2 weeks ago too. I had to up her to 1 tsp. and she is doing much better now. We also had to add Singulair. She was never like this before. I'm hoping after the high pollen season I can get her off everything.

Thank you everyone! I feel much better now since others are using it and there are no bad side effects. I did give it to him about an hour before bedtime routine and I think that made him over tired and he had a hard time going to sleep tonight, but I KNOW he was so so tired.

Anyway, thank you again! I am taking my Benadryl now myself and headed to bed.
