children's claritin--how to give as mL as opposed to teaspoons? for a 22 pound boy

my ped told me how much to give but of course i forgot. i'm going to call him later but wanted to see if anyone knows.

i'm introducing peanut butter to DS (almost 14 months--about 22 pounds) later today and i want to have the children's claritin ready to go just in case. i've already run this by the ped so he knows.

the box obviously doesn't give dosing for under 2, but even for 2 year olds it's in teaspoons, not mLs.

if i give a half teaspoon, does anyone know how many mLs that is so i can use the oral dropper?

1 teaspoon is 5 mL, so half a teaspoon is 2.5 mL.

ETA: i don't know if that is the right dose but that is how you convert teaspoon to ml.

The PP is correct. 1 tsp = 5 ml or 5 CC's

Are you sure you mean Claritin and not benadryl for a reaction? Claritin is not a fast acting allergy medication to be used in allergic reactions....

Claritin is used for seasonal allergies as maintenance.....

I just want to make sure you have the right thing on hand!

yes, you're right i mean benadryl Chat Icon

i have both in the house because the ped thought DS *might* have seasonal allergies like his dad. (it doesn't look like he has it though). i have generic benadryl so when i grabbed it this morning, i used the wrong name.

thanks ladies!
