Census letter--how can I find out if it is for real
My business received a letter saying that it was chosen for the U.S. Census and that our response is mandatory. I do not want to answer the questions until I take some steps to insure that the letter is for real. DH says to just look up the address online. I haven't done that yet. Is that all I need to do? What steps should I take to confirm that this is legit?

I thought the census only sent out inquiries every 10 years (in a zero year)?

Here's a link to the U.S. Census Bureau . If the information is released in 2010, they start their research earlier...but honestly, I'm not sure how it works.

IT is REAL. I called Katleen Rice's line, the US Census Bureau, and Andrew Cuomo's line. I was also a little freaked out. It is def real. I filled mine out and then they called me yesterday to ask me why my taxes are so high in NY. The stupid recording office was in Indiana! I was like hello, the taxes in LI are very high.It was so annoying, but they told me they start early to gather information. HTH

I think we'd all like to know why taxes are so high on LI.

I got one. Was it on green-ish paper?
I asked my Accountant who came in and she said it is legit, but I answered it with very vague answers. They don't need to know that much about me

I got one, and I own a home. I was just picked out of a computer. they told me it is becuase they are getting ready for the 2010 Census.
