Cars 2....what did we all think??? (poss spoilers)

Just got back from seeing it with my 3 yr DD and 2 yr DS...
We are all huge Cars 1 fans....

I have to say I was a little disappointed..I thought the story line was a little too complex for lil ones..I loved the simpleness and innocence of the story for the first and this was more like Cars meets mission impossible...

although my kiddies sat through the whole thing..they were getting restless by the end..ESP my DS

thanks for posting!

we did not see it yet. DS is 2 years 10 months. he LOVES cars 1, its even his bedroom theme. I'm worried he won't sit through the whole thing, bc the commercials seem like it's for older kids?

were there other kids your DC's age??

It was good but I thought the plot was too mature for kids... We did leave with a half hour to go though lol we had to get there so early for seats that ds couldn't sit anymore!

I didn't like it as much and neither did my five year old son. His words, "Cars 1 was much more better." And then today (we saw it yesterday) he said he never wants to see it again while telling my MiL about it. I thought there was too much violence and guns for younger kids. It does seem like they were going for an older audience this time.

I agree with you. It was a big let dwn after all the recent hype.
Much too complex for a 3 year old to follow. My DS was so bored after 20 minutes. He is telling everyone he didn't like the movie. Plus I hated how they use the words "kill" and "die," all the violence and weapons.
I do have to say, we saw it in 3D and the graphics were awesome!!

Re: Cars 2....what did we all think??? (poss spoilers)

I think it was aimed at an older audience (mature 6 - 11). However, after seeing the Mater's Tall Tales DVD (Secret Agent Mater) I can absolutely see they were going into this direction. DS happens to really like the Tall Tales series.

DS is almost 4 (August) and a huge Cars fan. This was the first movie he saw with "real" guns. I am not a fan of violence and was not expecting as much gun violence as there was. He was clearly worried about the fate of some of the cars that were hurt.

After the movie he said he liked it. I don't know that he loved the movie. The CGI (water and some of the chase segments) were by far the best CGI moments I have seen in any movie or video game.

Over all I liked the movie. It did not have the heart of the first movie, nor is it like Toy Story. It was very much a James Bond meets Cars movie if I ever saw one. Over all it is a good movie. My DD (20 months) did not have the patience for the movie at all.

I think if you are looking for a feel good movie then this is not the movie for you, but if you want a good film, and are ok with violence, it is a good movie. I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I think a child under 3 is to young for this movie based upon my experience with DD and watching many parents of children who look like they were under 3 being escorted out by their parents many times during the movie.

My sons favorite movie was Cars and he must of watched it 50 times between the ages of 3 and 7. But I always thought it was rather long and boring. I actually liked the second one a bit better and my son LOVED Cars 2.

I agree! I think it was missing the charm Cars 1 had. There was a lot going on but I felt that a lot of the characters were left out/never developed. I did like it, but just liked the first better.
