can you create bad habits in a month old baby?

DD loves her swing and sleeps so peacefully in it. At night she has some congestion and until we get to the dr on Wed, she sleeps in her boppy in our bed. She does start off the night on her back in her P&P. I give her a Soothie here and there. Because I am nuts, I am so nervous about forming bad habits like sleeping in the swing and a soothie addiction. I do limit the time for each and she just napped in her crib for the first time this morning. Am I nuts and making myself crazy for no reason? Should I just do for her what is comfortable to her and not worry about it?

Yes to your last sentence!! Don't put more stress on yourself than you haf too. Do what feels right. As for the pacifier...my dr. said it's easier to ween off the paci than a thumb. if it soothes your LO...use it. I don't believe you can form a "habit' that young.
good luck!!Chat Icon

There is no such thing as bad habits that early - whatever makes her happy and works for you!

I would not have her sleep in the boppy in bed, though, it's a SIDS/suffocation hazard. It's fine to have her sleep in the swing at night instead Chat Icon

This is exactly what I was going to say. I have let DS nap on a boppy for a few minutes with me watching him, but I wouldn't let him take a nap or sleep at night on one.

My DS sleeps in his rocker 90% of the time. The other 10% he sleeps in his swing. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said that he's known many children that will only sleep in a swing or other elevated position, including his own, and that not to worry about that at this young age.

No bad habits at that age.
Do whatever it takes to make you and baby the happiest and most comfortable.
