CAn I take prenatal vitamins before I am pregnant?
I ordered a bottle of prenatal vitamins form drugstore.com, and when I got them today, the box said for pregnant or lactating women. I am currently taking 400mg of folic acid a day. Should I stick with that until a BFP?

Absolutely!!!! My dr told me to start taking them 3 months before TTC.
ETA: I missed the part of your post about the folic acid. Call your dr and ask if it would be okay to take both before you start.

You definately can start taking them. I have been on mine for just about a year now. I feel they are the best vitamins anyway & my Dr said that as long as I was in "child-bearing" years, I could use them.

I have been taking them for almost a year. My hair and nails look great and I have not gotten as sick during the year as I usually do.

I would stop taking the folic acid alone and just take the prenatals.

I wouldn't take more folic acid unless it is prescribed to you, or ok'd by the doctor.
You want to make sure that you not taking too much.

I am already taking folic acid also so my dr just told me to double my daily intake (from 400mcg to 800mcg) instead of putting me on the prenatals

defin start,,,,some studies and dr's say you really should start taking them a year prior to build up the folic acid.
