California- Pacific Coast Highway
Has anyone ever do this trip? Any pointers, tips, suggestions?

I did a short stretch, from Oxnard down to LA, on the way home from a biz trip. Absolutely fabulous.
DH and I are talking about a trip to wine country, starting in LA and driving up PCH, then flying home from SF.

California- Pacific Coast Highway
I did it years ago, from LA to San Fran. Don't remember the specifics of where we stayed, etc. but would definitely recommend seeing Hearst Castle (need reservations/tix ahead of time) and stops in Monterey and Carmel.

You should stop by some of the galleries in Laguna Beach. Gorgeous views of the ocean, beautiful artwork, cute restaurants. One of my fave spots in SoCal.

I just did this in June with my husband! We had so much fun!
We flew into San Francisco, stayed there for 2 days, then rented the car and drove to Monterey and Carmel. We slept there over night then drove to Santa Barbara slept there one night and drove down to Laguna Beach. Slept there one night and drove to LA. We slept in LA for 2 nights and flew out of there. It was 7 days total but I wish I had 1 extra day and did Napa after San Fran.
In San Fran we did Fishermans wharf, Acatraz, golden gate bridge, crooked street, and stayed in union square.
Monteray-did the aquarium and old carmel, I would skip aquarium though, nothing special.
Santa Barbara- bike riding along the pier and just hung by the beach, they have vineyards there also if you have time.
Laguna- relaxed at the beach
LA-we have been there before so we went to Santa Monica pier and shops, Universal studios, and usual hollywood blvd sights.

did it years ago, loved it!!
started in san fran went all the way to vegas.
went to:
-Sonoma county did wine tasting mmm
-toured around san fran
-carmel
-monterrey
-hearst castle
-toured around LA (if you love traffic its great)
-ended in vegas whooohooooo

I will try to find the name for you as I forgot-but north of Hearst Castle there is a coastal restaurant with a huge drop overlooking the crashing waves...it is a hidden gem but famous. I believe it was a greek name. THere are usally celebrities there and it is low key. Try to go during sunset.
Also do you have enough time to drive on thru Oregon?? Also a stunning coastal drive!
