IT looks like the death of Anna Nicole Smith is going to get the "Law & Order" treatment.

In keeping with the "Law & Order" "ripped from the headlines" credo, "Criminal Intent" will feature an upcoming episode in which a drug-addled, world famous, buxom blonde turns up dead.

Kristy Swanson is reported to be favored to play the ill-fated blonde bombshell, according to foxnews.com's Roger Friedman.

Swanson - who recently weathered a scandal of her own when she ran off with Lloyd Eisler, her partner from "Skating with Celebrities" - is best known for playing Buffy in the original "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie.

The part of Smith's Svengali-like lawyer, Howard K. Stern, could be played by comic Jon Lovitz, although none of the casting has been formalized, an industry source said.

In other "Law & Order" news, "Criminal Intent" is also putting together an episode on former NASA astro-nut, Lisa Nowak, the woman who drove 900 miles wearing a diaper in a bid to kidnap an alleged romantic rival.

Both episodes are still in the earliest stages of production, sources say, although the scripts are expected to be completed soon.

A show spokesperson said, "The 'Law & Order' branded series is fiction."
