BTDT Mothers with IBS
As a spinoff to what does labor really feel like - did anyone give birth that also had IBS cramps?
I always told DH that birth couldn't be as bad as the IBS cramps I have, but now that I'm PG and actually have to go through labor, I would like a BTDT comparison!
TIA!!

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
hahah i know!! If my labor cramps is like my IBS cramps, I think I'm good to go (not like it's fun, but it's something I can take).
So any BTDT mothers?

*bump*
I really am curious about this...
BTW, have you found that your IBS has impacted your pregnancy at all?

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
It hasn't changed anything (nor have the cramps stopped). I got a prenatal vitamin with stool softener as a just in case, but other than that, nothing's different. You?

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
I actually get cramps every now and then but more than anything I have trouble going now!!! So sometimes I'll get extra bloated or sore and it just sucks because then I get worried.
I just hope that my intestines don't feel too crowded when the baby gets bigger!!!

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
Get prenatal vitamins with stool softeners - it helps!! I'm on citranatal harmony. Other girls on here are on citranatal assure.
I was super bloated (looked 6 months when I was only 6 wks) and that caused back pains until I told the doc, she switched my prenatal vitamins and it feels soooo good!

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
I never went into labor, but had really bad premature contractions. For me, the pain was different than IBS pain because it was more in my back.

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
Its funny you asked this! I have had my IBS under control for a bit now but the cramps you mention are HORRIBLE! lol I used to joke that I hav eno idea how I will go through labor if I can't even handle bathroom type cramps! but to be honest I've heard it's similar for a while...and then it's worse lol oh the joys to look forward to!

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
My labor was less painful than my IBS cramps (but I did have an epidural).
Labor was more exhausting for me because I just couldn't push anymore. It was like having to really go to the bathroom, but being very constipated. Sorry TMI!

Re: BTDT Mothers with IBS
thanks! maybe we do have some hope that due to our IBS "training" we'll do okay with the labor cramps!
