BTDT Moms - Symptoms before you went into labor?

Just out of curiosity, what were some of the symptoms you experienced before you went into labor (if any) that were signs that you were getting close to going into labor.

With DS #1, I never went into labor so I have no idea what to expect. I know what my doctor's told me but I'm curious to hear from experienced Mom's.

I was 10 days late...
I started cramping and then they got worse... and then worse...
water did not break til I got the hospital and was already 4cm dilated...no spotting until at the hospital..

I would get upset when people would say I would just know when it was time...and they were right--- You just know somehow...

Diarreah, I felt like I had a bladder infection , and I felt like her head pushing on my pelvic area the night before ,it felt like she was shimmying down there

I got lucky i broke my water and did not even know. my labor pains were in the form of bowel movement pains, went into the restroom every 15 mins.

My mucous plug broke and a few days later I had cramps and diarrhea. I thought it was the leftovers I ate for lunch, but gradually they got worse by the hour.

Thanks everyone. I've not been feeling too well the past few days and my braxton hicks contractions feel stronger than before. We'll see if he decides to arrive before my scheduled c next week.

I was crampy all weekend; started to lose my mucus plug and I started to throw up and noticed a consitent pain after that.

I was crampy all day & I felt so much pressure from his head that I thought he might fall out.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving (2006) I felt really achy all day...sort of like AF was coming. Sunday I woke up and was spotting. I had contractions 10 minutes apart all day. Then on Monday, I woke up and lost my mucus plug. I went to my OB and he said that I was 3 cm. The contractions were 3 minutes apart and very strong. I gave birth that evening!

The baby stopped moving for about a day. I was SO worried that I called my doctor that night. He said to wait until the morning and if there was still little movement to come in. So I went to sleep, and at 5am, woke up with the most god-awful contractions Guess she was storing up all her energy for the big day!

Horrible back pain! I was getting a stinging sensation in my lower back that kept coming and going at random times. At some point, DH and I realized I had been having back labor. We timed my back pain and it eventually formed a pattern. I called the OB when I could no longer walk and talk through the pain.

I noticed that my body started to empty itself and I was in the bathroom for a while. Then I started to get period cramps and when I went to the bathroom, had the bloody show. Then started the trickle- my water broke slowly. i was in total denial and by the time I got to the hospital, my water had completely broken.
