Re: Bris question

We had soooooooo many but it really depends on what you are looking for. We wanted to know about whether they include women in the ceremony and whether they limit that at all. We asked their availability after the fact if we were to have any sort of healing problem. We asked advice about Hebrew names and spellings. We asked some of the differences between conservative, orthodox and reform mohels. We politely asked whether they try to solicit business or make cheesey jokes.

Re: Bris question

The main question for us was how he handled inter-faith couples. We were looking for a not-too-traditional mohel since I'm not Jewish. But it really depends on your situation.

I would ask how he handles pain relief. Ours came an hour early to apply the Emla cream. It really seemed to work since DS did not cry at all -- I think it's because he applied it so early. Ours was also a pediatric urologist, which I liked.

Re: Bris question

FYI...Mohels who are doctors are all reform mohels. Just something I learned along the way. I read a long winded explanation of the reason.

Yeah, I remember reading that. It suited our purposes since we are an inter-faith couple so we were only looking at reform mohels anyway.

Do conservative and orthodox mohels use pain relief? I've heard stories about some mohels who don't use pain relief.
