Is discreet breastfeeding in public places OK or not? Is it even legal?

I BF in public with both my girls. As long as you're discreet, no one will even be able to tell. And yes, its legal in NY, they can't try to stop you from doing it.

Thank you, Greeneyes361708. I was hoping I was paranoid, but wanted to make sure after hearing a story of a friend of mine who took few pictures of her children in a bathtub and a guy at a photo development place almost called police on her.

Absolutely legal and appropriate. Believe me, while some may be uncomfortable with the idea most people prefer seeing a mom nursing to hearing a baby screaming! I've nursed everywhere (most bold - an auto repair shop, the kid needed to eat!)

It is completely OK and legal. No one should try to stop a mother from feeding her child anywhere.

it def is legal discreet or not, I never did it in public though myself but I would always bf in my car when out.

i was a photo manager for a few yrs and what happens is people get there signals crossed if the kids is like 7 yrs old and theres nude pics you have to report it if there in bad taste if its tubby pics thats fine some people dont get the difference.

If you can use a bottle in that place you can breastfeed..feeding your child should never be done in shame and in a bathroom. Be proud!

as long as you do it tastefully, i don't think its a problem at all. My SIL on the other hand whips her boob out in front of just about anybody practically showing off her nipples to anyone who will look.

Its a NY state law that anyplace you can be, you have to be allowed to breastfeed.

I have done it in a bathroom, my car and at the peditricians office. I always tried to be discreet or time his feedings.

It is VERY LEGAL to BF in public, technically you don't even have to cover up if you don't want too.
I have BF in my car, I would never go into a bathroom to bf, we don't eat in the bathroom neither should my child.
I usually take a bottle with me to BF if i don't feel comfy whippin out the boob. I do bf in front of family/friends at my own home, i just put a blanket over my shoulder to shield them from my nipple.
It's def a personal comfort thing.
