Boo...I thought I was going to be able to find out the baby's sex at u/s on Thursday...

I have a transvaginal u/s on Thursday to measure my cervix b/c I had a cone biopsy a few years ago. I will be 16 weeks. DH was going to go with me b/c we were hoping to find out the sex.

Well, I had a Dr's appt today and the Dr. told me I won't be able to see the baby at the ultrasound and that it is too early anyway. Can't believe I have to wait another month...I am so impatient!!

That might not be true.

At my 20wks..even though I had a full sono and was able to see that we were having a girl.
the tech also did a transvaginal u/s to see the uterus and measure. I asked if she got a sono pic of her girly part and said no but as she did the transvaginal....she was able to see it again and got me a sono pic.

If anything it was clearer.

So, dont lose hope...you may be able to find out.

I know I am dying too - my AFP is on 1/18 - but my level II isn't until 2/6 - so I have a while to wait.

Interesting. My doctor told me after 12 weeks the sex is noticeable, but generally people don't see.

Isn't a transvaginal the one they do right at the beginning? B/c I know I saw the baby.

Good luck anyway. We found out the sex at 19 weeks, so even if you have to wait, it isn't THAT much longer

Aww, that stinks, since you had your hopes up!! I guess you never know, you may get a nice surprise at your upcoming ultrasound!!

At my visit last night, I just scheduled my Level II for Feb. 5...can't wait, we're so excited!! Actually, we're going to TRY to be sneaky. I have to go for a fetal echocardiogram on Feb. 1, I'm going to beg to see if they can just scroll down a little bit and see if they can tell us or !

Good luck! Sometimes I think it just comes down to whether or not you have a tech who is in a good mood or not.
