Bleach for cleaning baby/children's cups and bottles???

I personally would not clean a bottle or cup with bleach. I don't want to offend anyone but that seems harsh.

I always see this Clorox Commercial that says clean your baby's bottles with Clorox....I just think that if they aren't allowed to use Bleach on NYC School floors then why would you use it to clean a drinking cup??

This is just a vent really. Does anyone use Bleach to clean bottles/cups?

I only get things that go in the dishwasher on the top rack ,then I do a quick clean w/dish soap and warm water to get rid of any residue Chat Icon

Nope, I don't use any spray cleaners around my son. If I use them I do it when he is not home, or at night. That spray gets everywhere!

No, I never used bleach. My DH bleached all of his dishes though before we lived together.

Re: Bleach for cleaning baby/children's cups and bottles???

why would you? I guess that's the REAL question...

bleach is pretty much the only way to kill viruses on surfaces... but where has the baby bottle been that it's now necessary to bleach it Chat Icon

top shelf of the dishwasher works just fine Chat Icon

on the flipside, technically, I guess you COULD do it, if you rinsed the stuff 50 times afterwards.... I wouldn't, though Chat Icon

(this is one of the reasons I put my humidifier away earlier this year...I don't like the idea of bleaching it, rinsing it and then letting whatever residue remains become aerosolized in the bedroom Chat Icon )

This is ridiculous. We are way too germaphobic as a society, and I hate when these advertisers prey on parent's fears.

That said, most commercial dishwasher detergents do contain bleach. But it's a bit different than throwing it in a bottle to soak.
