how long after a baby is born do you get their birth certificate?

I live in NJ so it might be different but I had to go to the town where DS was born to pick it up myself.

I remember we got the SS card first, the B.C arrived about 3 weeks later.

Hospital told me 4 weeks for birth certificate and 8 weeks for ss card

DS is 3 weeks old, we received the SS card last week ... still waiting for the Birth Cert.

I went down to our town hall prrobably about a month or month and half after DD was born to get a copy of it. I wanted to get it done before I went back to work since Town Hall hours are so short.

Taylor was born on March 7 and her birth certificate wasn't mailed until April 23rd (town of huntington)

I gave birth at Southside and he wasnt even 2 weeks old when I had both SS card and 2 original birth certificates..
The BC came from the Town of Islip a day after the SS card came.

We live in CT and we had to go to the town hall to get it. Thank god, we didn't have to get it from the town where my DD was born because it is about 30 miles from where we live. Had to pay i think $5 or $10. They also had a wallet size version but we did not get it.
