BFP after a Miscarriage

I had a miscarriage in May and had a D&C. We were not TTC from May to december as I had a broken bone to heal, My Xrays stopped in december and while we were not trying to conceive we were not trying not to conceive either.

So AF was supposed to arrive last weekend and nothing happened...I had a feeling ALL week that I was pregnant but for some reason I pushed myself into denial until today when I decided I had to take a pregnancy test and lo and behold its positive. I am happy but at the same time I feel numb and somewhat in denial. I know I need to call my OB and get an appointment - I am already taking Pre Natals so feel good about that but I am feeling so strange about this.

I guess I am in shock.

Did anyone else feel strange once you got a BFP after you had a miscarriage?

Thanks

Re: BFP after a Miscarriage

Congrats on your BFP!!!
I had a mc in March and found out I was pregnant in September. I really couldn't enjoy the very beginning of pregnancy because I was almost "waiting" for something to go wrong.
Knock on wood, I'm almost 22 wks and everything seems to be ok.

To be in shock, afraid, scared, sad- whatever you feel is totally normal.
Best of luck you and your LO.

Completely agree with Stacey's post... I was so scared to get excited about it... Going through a loss changes you, its natural... All your feelings are completely natural... I can def relate...

Congratulations... I wish you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Re: BFP after a Miscarriage

First off Sara, Congrats!

I know exactly how you feel. Unfortunately you will be like this the entire first trimester. I felt like I was walking on eggshells until each doctors appointment. My doctors were great and got me in whenever I wanted to hear the heartbeat.

The best thing I can tell you is to stay positive. So many women go on to have healthy babies after miscarriages. It's just the scariest thing to go through though.

Congratulations! I had a d&c in April for a missed mc and am now 19 weeks. It was very hard not to worry obsessively in the beginning and each dr apt I am a wreck but it does get better! Good luck to you happy and healthy 9 months! Let's try and see that sometimes things go right.

Re: BFP after a Miscarriage

Thanks Everyone!! I called the OB and made an appointment and I will be 7 weeks by then so fingers crossed. I feel kind of guilty as I was SO skippy with excitement when I got pregnant with my two kids and feel like I am jibbing this little one out of the excitement somehow..not that this baby will notice but still...

ThanksChat Icon

PS I haven't told DH yet!!!!! trying to come up with a way to tell him but dont feel like jumping off the roof like I did with the last BFP's!!

Re: BFP after a Miscarriage

Just wanted to say congrats! I never had a mc but with all the time on this site I couldn't help but be super nervous when I got my BFP. It took many weeks for me to get past the idea that the LO was here to stay. It was a while before I let myself get really excited. Congrats again and hope everything goes perfectly!

First off, congratulations!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had a MC back in May then got pregnant 2mths later. I wouldnt say I was in denial but I was VERY scared. For the first 12 weeks I was on pins and needles. So scared to go to the bathroom to see blood. Trust me though, it does get easier. I am 26wks along now with a healthy baby Chat Icon

YES ME! OMG I don't know, sounds strange but I don't feel anything ... My mc was in October , we started TTC after the 2nd cycle and got pregnant the same month, just found out on the 11th and I think I'm numb, in shock, almost like I can't feel happy, I can't relax and enjoy , I am anxious , stressed , scared, paranoid, afraid to get attached ....keep telling myself everything will be ok, but it's almost like I don't believe myself .
ahhhh, just feel so...... I don't even what the word is Chat Icon

The word you are looking for is "normal" Chat Icon After suffering a MC its hard to be happy. Its like your anxiety and fears just got 1000x worse. It is hard, really hard but trust me, things get easierChat Icon

Re: BFP after a Miscarriage

I'm like one minute PG, but after experiencing a late loss (I was 21w5d) I am terrified!!! I'm finding it difficult to be excited, and idk if that's because I'm so early or bc i know how terribly wrong it can go. DH is so excited and I'm finding it difficult to be as excited as he is, all I really want to do is hide up in my bedroom for the next 18 weeks, until I'm passed the point I was with PG #1.

Anywho, congrats and when are you due?

Also, I don't want to hijack this thread. If you know me IRL, yes I'm pregnant!
