BFing Moms of 2-3 month olds

How many times a day does your DC nurse? DD used to have about 7 feedings a day but since she started sleeping longer we get 6 but sometimes I have to squeeze the 6th in. Now today, DD slept 10.5 hours last night Chat Icon and is now napping again for 2 hours so it is going to be harder to fit in the 6th feeding if she is not screaming for it. 5 feedings does not seem like enough though. HOw much does your DC eat?

DD eat about 6 times a day. More or less about every 2-3 hours during the day. She sleeps 7-8 hours straight at night!Chat Icon

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I read somewhere that she shouldn't eat less than 7 or 8 times a day. With how much she has been sleeping lately, I would have to feed her every hour at times!!!

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Yeah to your DD sleeping 7-8 hours! It makes life with an infant so much more manageable, doesn't it???

Being that he doesn't ever sleep more than 2-3 hrs, he eats probably 8-9 day Chat Icon

Life is pretty good right now, so I can't complain when she does get fussy!

My DS is not sleeping either. So 9-10 times a day. Right now he is sick with a cold so he's been nursing more.

The doctor told me that every 2-4 hours during the day was good.

That's what I do but with 10.5 hours at night, a 3 hour nap this morning, and a 2 hour nap this afternoon. I don't think I can get in a 6th feeding. I'm afraid she is going to wake up starving in the middle of the night.

I'm no expert, but I think if she's hungry she's not going to sleep. Babies know what they need and if she needed more food she'd make sure you knew it!

I know. I'm being paranoid. I am just so happy she is sleeping so well and I am afraid it is going to go away if she is hungry and we are going to take steps backwards. She's only going to nurse 5x today so we will see what happens tonight!

Re: BFing Moms of 2-3 month olds

My doctor said as long as he was wetting enough diapers, and sleeping through the night (especially by 3 months old), that he was eating enough. My DS still eats small meals constantly (at 9 months), during the day. He typically only eats one boob at a time. He also still barey finishes 4oz bottles in a feeding. He's a big, healthy boy, so I know he's okay.
