BFing in public ?
So, I started taking Alex out with me (yay! I feel human again!), but I'm having a hard time with the BFing... what do you ladies do? Do you do it in public when the need arises? The restroom? I'm not at the point yet where I'm pumping - I'll do that in a couple of weeks and start giving her the bottle when I go out with her, but in the meantime I need some ideas on where to go or what to do if I'm out with her and she gets hungry...

Congratulations on getting outside! I BF in public but I am still not 100% comfortable so I usually try to find a quiet discreet place to feed her. I dont like to use the restrooms, but dressing/changing rooms are a great place, its quiet and there is usually a place to sit, I have also fed her in the car before/after we go shopping but if all else fails I just try to sit somewhere quiet and be discreet, honestly it is usually not apparently what you are doing anyway and I have never had anyone stare or say anything to me.
Its funny because I am usually so paranoid about what people might think, but I was in Target the other day and a woman was BF her baby while walking around and you were able to see EVERYTHING, she hid nothing, but the funny thing was, no one really cared or even stared, so just try to relax and enjoy being outside!

Believe me, people would be far less comfortable hearing your baby crying than they are with breastfeeding! I find it helpful to wear a nursing tank top under a similar color shirt. That way only the littlest bit is exposed, and my baby's head covers that. I do try to find a quiet spot, but no way would I breastfeed in a bathroom. Yuck!

I also used a dressing/fitting room. Never did I feel comfortable doing it out in the open. Or I would sit in my car. I try to have him fed before we left, and I limited my errands to 2 hours if I was by myself.
ETA: some department stores have ladies lounges that I would frequent a lot.

My truck's backseat is my bff. Its very comfy and I have tinted windows and the radio and fresh air it always works out for me.

If I had a preference I would use my car when out. If I wasnt by my car then I would find someplace to sit (preferebly quiet with few or no people, a blanket and do it. I would NEVER use a bathroom to feed. Im not overly shy about it though.

I too have a hard time with this. Its usually in my car but it is a 2 door with a very small back seat. I now have the maya wrap which if baby cooperates is great. Just looks like you have your baby in a pouch.
I've fed sidney once in a storage closet at a blood lab....not cool. Won't do that again

Me too.
Same here. If you happen to be in a mall, some of the nicer stores (like Lord and Taylor, Saks, etc) have very nice Ladies' rooms/lounges. Usually I'm in my car though.

Thanks ladies... I'm still REALLY uncomfortable about bfing in public, especially because sometimes it takes a little while for Alex to latch and it will be way too difficult to hold up a blankie and help her latch at the same time. I guess I'll use my car or dressing rooms until I start pumping! Only a couple more weeks to go so I think I'll make it
