Best places to stay in cape cod with kids?

need some suggestions for areas that are kid friendly as well as any hotels/motels you would recommend that are on the water/within walking distance and have a pool (i know tall order LOL)

I don't know if you would be interested in this, but both times we went to Cape Cod, we rented a house for a week. As a matter of fact, anytime we travel with the kids, we find it is best to rent a condo or house (we've done so in Santa Fe and Puerto Rico too). I have little guys (3 1/2 y.o. and 14 months) and I love having a kitchen, separate bedrooms and even a washer and clothes dryer (imagine coming home from a week away with all clean clothes). You may not have the amenities of hotel, but the beaches are close by, you don't need to go out and spend a fortune on breakfast and when the kids are asleep in another room, we can sit out on the back deck or watch t.v. in the living room without worrying about waking them.

We like the Harwich/Chatham area the best.
