Best cell phone for 'senior' - my mom
My mom watches my dd at my house and we don't have a landline. She has a cell for emergencies but hates it.
I want to get her the simplest cell phone with large numbers and easy texting if possible.
TIA

Why don't you get a landline if this is an issue? I have a "landline" from this company for my Florida rental. Like $15 a month, plugs into your internet wireless router. Piece of cake. It's even cheaper if you prepay for a year.

Yes this might be your best and cheapest option.
However, if she is driving your DD around and you want her to have it for when she is out and about she can get a simple cell phone- not a smartphone- for free at any of the carriers and just the smallest plan- no data needed on a non smart phone. They don't have them on display- you have to ask and they will get you one from the back.

My MIL has a Jitterbug. I think maybe she got the "smart" phone version now - maybe, though I don;t know why she would. And my FIL took her old flip Jitterbug. I'm not sure of monthly costs or the provider, but they both really don't use them much. Just to have in an emergency basically. MIL likes the big buttons and that there is not a lot of options on the home menu to get confused with.

Tracfone (and similar pay-as-you-go companies) also have free or under $20 phones, with $15/month plans, and with discounts and bonus purchase options, you can get it for much less than that even.

I have a tracfone. Not the one where you pay monthly, it is prepaid. For $99 I got the phone and 1350 min, 1350 texts and 1350 bytes of data that is good for 1 year. For $5 you can buy an additional 1000 texts if needed. It is a smartphone and I connect to WiFi when available. I have added texts through the year. At the end of my 365 days I can purchase another of the same plan and be good again for 365 days. I am in Holbrook and the service is running on verizon towers. I have my verizon landline forwarded to my tracfone. I was paying $80/month with verizon and this was the best option hands down for a cell and I have reliable service. I've never missed a call.
