Baking with a candy mold question

I am trying to do as much today as possible for Sydnie's birthday Saturday.

Can I make a candy mold for the giant cupcake and store it in the fridge or freezer until Sat?

Sure, I don't see why you couldn't. The only thing I can think of, is that the cake won't fit inside the candy because they will be the same size. You might have to cut the cake down when you're putting it together.

But then again, it might work.Chat Icon

Yes, you have to trim the cake but it came out pretty good when I made it for Mike's birthday. Chat Icon

You can absolutely make it in advance...but I wouldn't store chocolate in the refrigerator or the freezer. That can be left out at room temperature.

Chocolate should never be stored in the fridge, that's how it gets that white film.

Re: Baking with a candy mold question

are you talking about molding the chocolate from a mold, and leaving the shaped chocolate in the fridge? that should be fine for a few days.

anything longer, chocolate will start getting the white 'bloom" or film on it.

i wouldnt freeze it. it tends to crack easily when its frozen.
