Babysitting Question
How much does a babysitter get these days?
Also, how did u all go about finding a good one...I'm assuming through word of mouth.
My parents can watch my baby, but i'd like to have someone who is local, to come to my home, so that DH and I can get out for a few hours here and there. Also my parents aren't always going to be available on the day or night that i might need them, so i need a backup.

My DD's old sitter (a friend of ours) will do it occasionally - we pay her $10/hr. We usually have family though, and if we don't then we will usually split up for the night, if we can't bring her.

Going rate is $12-$15/hour
You can get recommendations from other parents (lots of them don't want to share though!!!!) or at daycare.

My manager lives in my town and has 3 daughters that all babysit!! I hit the jackpot!!!! The youngest gets $8 an hour. I've only used her so far. I'm not sure what the older one's charge. She actually told me the other woman she babysits for only pays her $7!
ps, I'm in Massapequa Park and willing to share. FM me if anyone is interested. They are all great girls.

My nieghbor babysits DS for $7/ hr. She took the red cross class. Perhaps the red cross can rec. people.
When school is in session you can call a high school guidance office and ask for an honors student and they will also rec. people.

There is a lady that 2 of my mom friends use who comes very highly recommended. 10 an hour for 1 kid, 3 hour minimum.

we used babysitters.com and interviewed many people..we have used one girl now 3 times..$12hr we pay for two

I have only ever paid a flat fee. My 16 year old neighbor gets $25 for a 3 hour night out
