Baby's crib in parent's room?

So I can't do it, I can't put Luke in his own room. I don't know why but Im too afraid of him being away from me. So tonight, I had DH move his crib into our bedroom. Am I nuts? Has anyone else kept their baby's crib in their room for a few months? Are we going to keep him up?

annasophia has her crib in our room. She is 8 months on Tuesday. Eventually she'll move into her sisters room but it's not happening anytime soon.

Yes. She goes to sleep anywhere from 7:30-8:30 and we go to bed a few hours later. We don't have a TV in our room so when we go upstairs it's to sleep.

With My Son we had his crib in our room till he was 11 months old, and he had a nice nursery, we just had issues letting him sleep in it Chat Icon

Now we have TWO cribs in our room with the twins, b/c we have no room for them. They are 7 months old. It works out fine for us.

We had a 1 bedroom apartment until DD was 2.5yo. We never had issues with her sleeping in the same room. We went to bed after her and we all got up at the same time.

She transitioned to her own room just fine too.

Re: Baby's crib in parent's room?

I would only do it if I had to. I am the type of person who needs to have my room to myself (well me and DH) and bedtime is bedtime. I had the bassinett in there for the first 3 months and that was it. If I ever had another DC I may not have a choice but its not ideal for us.

Re: Baby's crib in parent's room?

No you're not crazy. Our room isn't big enough for our DD's crib so when she went into her crib/own room I slept on a single bed with her in her room for weeks. The first night I slept in my bed with my DH was so hard! I missed her!! Now I love when we go visit relatives so we can sleep in the same room again!

Re: Baby's crib in parent's room?

Lola's been in our room since day 1. Her crib, changer/dresser.... we just didn't have another room for her! Chat Icon and sharing with Bella wasn't an option.

So... what we did now is put up a wall in our room, so she has her own space...but we still need to put the door up, so *technically* she is still in our room Chat Icon

Re: Baby's crib in parent's room?

I had a cradle in my room. But when she was real small, she slept in her swing in my room.

I don't think it's a big deal, as long as you move him out before he realizes what's going on.

DS's crib is in our room we planned him to stay for 3 months and then move him.

He's such a noisy sleeper we might move him sooner.

We have Sienna's crib in our room. Even though I can't get her to sleep in it yet, for various reasons, I don't want to move her out!

Re: Baby's crib in parent's room?

We did it with my youngest. We have a 3 bedroom and my other kids were in the other 2 rooms and too small for me to trust them with the baby there - and didn't want the baby waking them. He was eventually going in with his brother. As he got a bit older but before he was sitting up so about 5 months maybe, he use to lift his legs all the way up in the air and slam them down on the mattress. We started calling him Thumper, he would do it 9 or 10x in a row. We ended up putting my DD in the DS #1 and then put the baby in my DD's lavender room until he was about 1 and then switched them.

Re: Baby's crib in parent's room?

our DD is 11 months old and her crib is still in our room...Mainly because we don't have an extra room right now to put her in, but it hasn't been a problem. We just put her down and leave the room and then we go up to bed later on at night. There have been a time or two where she's woken up and sees us and crys to be picked up, but i try to throw the covers over my head so she doesn't see us and she goes right back to sleep.

Same here...except my DD stayed in her crib in her room from day 1...and she's a great sleeper.
