Baby Food Question....may be a dumb question.

DD's ped told me that I could feed her anything but cows milk and honey and I had read on here that infants shouldnt have eggs. Well, I bought some baby food and on the label one says contains eggs and another says contains milk. Can I give them to her? I know he didnt want her having milk but I dont know if he meant like a bottle of cow's milk or did he mean anything with milk in it. What do you girls think?

My ped said eggs were fine (at the 9month appt). She said yolk and white were fine.. that not having part of the egg was outdated (I asked because I saw on here that other ped's said to do yolk first?)

I don't get too worried about what I feed her now that she's 10 months, I constantly think about babies in other countries eating sushi, spicy foods, etc. Chat Icon

I read somewhere that the eggs in the baby food jars are not considered allergens. I don't know if it's the cooking process or what exactly. My ped was also lax about what DD could have so she got eggs and even peanut butter by 10 months. You have to do what you're comfortable with though.

I can't answer on the eggs (but I see others did) but milk products are fine. Just don't give her a sippy of milk instead of her usual formula. That's why they say no milk. They don't want you to switch before a year, and think if they say milk is ok that you might. We were told from 7 months to do yogurt, cheese, etc. -- whole milk versions.

Yes, milk in products is okay (unless your DC has a milk allergy) it's just not okay to replace breastmilk/formula with milk yet
