Average price for an afternoon private party?

We are looking into places for a Christening and trying to determine what is a good deal. We are looking for about 70 people in Nassau. What is the average price?

I don't care if it is buffet or sit-down. But I would like beer & wine (unless we do a brunch, then I am thinking champagne punch or mimosas). I don't want a cocktail hour, many places include this and I don't think it is necessary.

Would love any recommendations of places in the Bellmore/East Meadow/Wantagh/Levittown area?

The price really varies from place to place. I would say a good deal would be under $40 pp including beer and wine.

A good place would be Wickers....I hosted a Birthday party there last year and it was around $25.00 a person including beer, wine and soda. Everyone had a great time...the service was excellent.

We had ours at Jackie Reilly's in Bethpage in the bar area. We loved it and everyone had a great time. It was $17.95 pp w/ Beer, Wine and Soda and I believe $21.95 after 3pm. I might have my DD's 1st B-Day party there again since it was such a great deal and close to me.

I've heard Jackie Reilly's is good too.
Also Elisa's is N. Bellmore is excellent and I think they are somewhere around $35 a plate...
