At what age do you switch from a crib to a bed?
I am asking because a friend has offered to loan me a crib. THis is my first and i was going to buy a crib so I have it for #2 and maybe #3 (god willing). But, I was just thinking that I may need to buy another crib anyway unless my children all end up a certain # of years apart. Anyway, I have no idea what age the transition is usually made and when is the earliest. TIA

My son switched at 20 months because I wanted him comfortable in it before my daughter was born. My daughter switched at...hmm...now that I think about it, she switched at 20 months also.

Thank you! This is helpful because I thought that it was at 3 yrs since that is the age of my friend's DC who is getting rid of the crib.

I will be switching it a few months. Andrew is 14 months. We are getting a fire truck bed from some friends so it is sort of a step in between a big bed and a crib.

I don't plan on switching or turning my crib into a bed until DD either reaches the height limit of the crib or shows signs of jumping out on her own.
Right now she's safest in there! DD is almost 15 months old.

i moved dd into a bed at 18 months because i needed her crib for baby #2. i moved baby #2 into a bed at 2 because he started climbing out of his crib all night long.

DS#1 was 22 months - we moved him b/c his little brother was coming. He gave up naps that day. 
DS#2 will be 2 next month and I hope I can keep him in there until he's at *least* 2 1/2.

She was in a crib until about 2.5 years...but mostly b/c we were sharing a room. We moved and she switched then. It wasn't planned, I simply didn't want to put that PITA crib together again so we moved on.
DS will move on when he is around 2 I suppose depending on what our lives are like then. If we have another child before then, he'll be out sooner.

He was evicted at 2 years old (24 months). He got the twin bed; Maddie got the crib.
