Re: at home doppler

I ordered mine from www.heartones.com. I got the digital one. I love it! It's safe. Shouldn't be abused like anything else, but great for peace of mind.Chat Icon

Wow - thats really great. I didn't know those were out there for purchase or rental.

I felt like I was the only who goes bananas between sono visits. I'm driving myself (and my family crazy!)

Re: at home doppler

My sister owns one so I just borrowed it from her Chat Icon
I personally never have trouble finding the heartbeat. I start out really low by the pubic bone and most of the time it is right there. If not I slowly move up and find it within 15 secs.

I only use it when I am worried about the baby. I used it this morning because I woke up on my back after who knows how many hours. I found the hb right away so my worries were gone. I also used it the day I had the stomach virus after violently throwing up all day. It definitely helps me ease my worrying!

Re: at home doppler

I was reading up about them and debated on buying one or renting one...I chose to buy one off ebay when I was 5 weeks..I knew I had to wait until around 8-10 weeks to use it..if I didn't hear the heartbeat I would have been okay with that too and kept trying...I used it on my 8th week.
It took me almost 40 minutes to find the heartbeat but I found it and it was incredible.
Since I switched Dr's my first appointment was not until 11 weeks so I was dying to hear the baby. The Stork Radio helped me so much. After my dr's appointment I think I have used it only 2-3 times now. But it helped so much in the begining when i didn't feel pregnant and I will use it with my next child too.
The price it pays to rent one you mine as well buy it.

Here is the website but again I bought it off ebay...

Re: at home doppler

Never bothered. Personally, I go to the dr. once a month and here it there. It's reassuring enough that I don't need to stress myself out trying to find it myself.

I am not a high risk pregnancy and all of my tests have come back perfect so far. I just don't see a need in spending that kind of money when there is really nothing to be worried about in the first place.

Clearly, if you are high risk you'd have much different concerns, and I know if I were high risk I'd feel much different about it.

Re: at home doppler

It is so funny that i see this post. I was thinking about getting one but the girls at work think im crazy. I see that some of the girls say they only use it 2 to 3 times? Does it cause harm to the baby?

Re: at home doppler

DH and I would love spending time together just listening to our little bundle moving around inside Chat Icon DD was facing my back for most of my pregnancy so I didn't get to feel her as much as I would've like to. But to hear her so active used to make us laugh! It would amaze me that someone inside was moving around so much and I couldn't feel most of it!
