I know it firsthand too, and I've always felt that there needs to be more time for play and social interraction.

having taught pre-school myself, i have to agree with this article.
not i think pre-schools should be all play, but some people just get carried away...they forget that these are children and if they expose them to such strict academics from such a young age, they will eventually get frustrated and "burned-out"

Seriously, though, I do think kids learn better when it is more fun, and not quite so structured. They've been seeing this at all ages all over the country. Some of the best schools are trying out less-structured classes, and the kids seem to be learning better, and actually enjoying learning.
