I have a GE profile microwave mounted over the range. It started making noise and now won't work.

I called GE and they will send a tech for $100. If the tech fixes it, we pay for parts and labor but not the $100. If it's deemed unfixable or we think it's not worth fixing, GE gives an $80 voucher for a new one but we have to order it online through GE.

I don't know if it pays just to get a general appliance repair person to look at it w/o being bound to GE.

My electrician told me that sometimes getting the same brand helps because the brackets are all the same and we won't have to make new holes, etc..
