We used to give him $100, although he did NOTHING for us. He wouldn't even sign for packages. He was so lazy.

We tip this super, but I didn't tip anyone in previous apartments I've lived in. Our super is really nice and will go out of his way to fix things. I'm not sure what we gave him last year, but this year we plan to give him $50.

We do. We usually tipped him $50 (and we give him $ any time he does something for us in the apartment) but this year we're splitting that $50 between him and the porter, who does a heck of a lot more work than the super. So, $25 each.

Our first year at our co-op, our super came to us and said, "It's customary to give money for the holidays" My Dh said, "Thanks" and shut the door on him. Geez...some people... Since then, we haven't given him anything.

I tip my doormen, super and handyman about $30 each
ETA: Thats about 8 people... it gets expensive

Yes we do tip the super , $50 (though as some of you said, our super doesn't do much more than live for free in the building if ya ask me) ..
We also tip the two porters (they do maintenance around the building) about $25 each.. THEY are wonderful guys, they actually deserve MORE

we have three porters and give them $25 a piece
we also tip the mailman and i tip my bus driver
