Can you get AOL mail without having AOL service?

Well I am glad I asked. I have had my AOL mail acct for like 11 years now. I didn't want to go through the hassel of changing everything to a new acct. I am glad it's free cause like a dumb a$$ I've been paying $15 a month to occasionally use AOL but use AOL mail daily.

How long has it been free for?

Fairly recently-- within the last few months or so.

It's free in the sense you can use it like Yahoo- which includes mail but if you still need it to connect to the internet, that's a different story.
