Anyoone else feel guilty when sick?

Or maybe not guilty but just hate it cause you know the kids will probably act up or the sub wont cover what you need done.... its seems more stressful to be out sick than tough it out in school

I took a 1/2 day today when I got to school and promptly had a bout of fever/chills on and off and now feel even worse

yes i am home today too and i am dreading what my room will look like tomorrow!

This is the reason I hate taking sick days. It's usually more work to call in sick than it is to actually suck it up and get through the day.

The kids are LUNATICS when there is a sub in the room - even my most well-behaved students act up when I am not there. My room is often in disarray when I come back as well. Not the best thing to come back to after being home sick.

OMG yes! I am home today too! I was debating all morning whether or not to go in. I woke my husband up to ask him and then finally did it

I'm home today too. I know my that none of the work I left for the sub will be done and by 8th period word would have gotten around that I am out and that class will have cut. I do feel guilty but my stomach was killing me and I just couldn't face then entire day being in pain.

no i don't feel guilty at all. my class is always well behaved when i'm out. i've never had a problem and i'm usually sick because one of them gave me a bug!

i used to feel guilty in the beginning of my career, but i learned there is no point in being martyr...when you're sick, you're sick. and i found out the hard way, when you don't take the days you need, you end up in the hospital!

that said though, i only take days when i am REALLY sick... writing sub plans, etc. is almost more work than going in.
