Anyone tried a VBAC and ended up with a c-section?

If you had planned a VBAC for #2 or #3 and ended up with a c-section, can you share your experience?

Why did you end up having a c-section?

TIA

Nope, I had a successful VBAC. I did push for 3 hours Chat Icon and there was some talk about using forceps towards the end Chat Icon , but the words c-section were never mentioned. It all went very well! Chat Icon

Re: Anyone tried a VBAC and ended up with a c-section?

My OB and MW were open to the idea of VBAC, but once I reached a certain point c/s was inevitable...it was all based on weight. I had my first due to a big kid and when #2 measured in at 10-8 at 37 weeks - they scheduled c/s right away.

We have a few ideas if there is #3, as they are still open to it.

I did but, the doctor shouldn't have pushed me into the VBAC I should have done the section from the start

not me, but my roommate at the hospital. She was a perfect candidate for a VBAC (so she said) and her uterus ruptured and she ended up with a c/s. The doctor told her she was lucky she didn't need a hystarectomy (sp?) and she can only have 1 move child (she wanted at least two more) and not go full term.

Re: Anyone tried a VBAC and ended up with a c-section?

Throughout my whole pregnancy we were thinking VBAC but as it got closer to my due date we had to schedule a c-section because he just was not moving down at all. My first child was up high also and the doctor felt that the baby was never going to get into position so she did not feel comfortable going with the VBAC once I hit 39 weeks and he was still up high. Turns out they made the right decision because he was up so high that even during the c-section they had to have a nurse climb up on the table and push him down.

Re: Anyone tried a VBAC and ended up with a c-section?

My reason for not having a VBAC was very straightforward - my DS was breech, which was also the reason for my first c/s. I was disappointed at first - I had a vbirth, then a c/s so I was really hoping for a VBAC and my OB was very pro VBAC. I was a great candidate based on my previous pregnancies and labors but it was not to be....it's all good in the end though.

I was hoping for one and was a good candidate, but ended up with a repeat c/s. My doctors would not let me be more than a week late, and I could not be induced, so...DD didn't come in time and I went ahead with the c-section.

Re: Anyone tried a VBAC and ended up with a c-section?

I tried for a VBAC with DS#2 (DS#1 was an "emergency" c/s after 14 hours of labor and "stalling" at 9 cm).

My water broke at 38 weeks with #2. I went into labor on my own. Got to the hospital at 3 cm. and things moved FAST. Was not able to get the epidural until 8cm (only 3 hours later). Not sure what happened, as it happened REALLY fast, but all at once, DS heartrate started going down with every contraction, they checked me, and my cervix started swelling shut, and a very fast decision was made to get him out NOW.

So off to the OR I went.

Baby #3 was a scheduled c/s.
