anyone travel with 2 kids alone?

I have a 3 year old and 6 month old.

I want to go to NY for a few days and NEED input.

Fly vs drive

I would need their car seats and a sleeper for my 6 month old.

What else could I expect and plan for cause I need to decide what's easier. Having my car while in NY and the ability to pack it with what I need.

Or a shorter travel time, BUT limited to what I can bring & having to rent a car.

I did it when my kids were about those ages, I flew. Seemed easier to me and it worked out well, my DH met us a few days into the trip.

Had to haul a lot of stuff-2 car seats (but I checked one right away and the other was in a sit and stand stroller and I was able to check that whole thing at the gate), big carry ons, etc but it really did work out well.

I flew into Macarthur on LI because I didn't want to worry about a shuttle to the rental cars and it's a much easier airport to navigate. However, it did mean a layover in Philly, but again, it seemed to work out okay.

i am a driver.

I like loading up the car with tons of stuff. I like having my car also.

I have flown on my own from the UK to NY with both kids, Immi was only 5 months old. It was pretty easy, I had my stroller and a sling to carry her. People help you if you need it. People helped me with my luggage when we got home, so it was great! I am going to do it again this summer.
