Anyone see an empty gestational sac at 6 weeks

and still go on to a healthy pregnancy?

I suspect I will lose this pregnancy but I just thought I would ask to see if I should keep some hope.

TIA

Re: Anyone see an empty gestational sac at 6 weeks

i think my sac was empty 6w1d (if you look in my photos) and then we saw our bean on 7w6d. But my doc didnt tell me it was empty, maybe he didnt want to scare me, but he said I see a sac, and I remember thinking? That's it ? There's nothing there.

I am 22 weeks today

Re: Anyone see an empty gestational sac at 6 weeks

yes, not me but my sister had it with #2
it happens ALL the time ; im convinced it's because they count the 2 weeks from AF to ovulation as 2 weeks pregnant and that is basically impossible

Re: Anyone see an empty gestational sac at 6 weeks

We saw one empty sac at 5.5 weeks and two sacs with two heartbeats like a week later (I was being monitored a lot due to bleeding early on). I'm now 25.5 weeks with no complications so far. A LOT can change in a short amount of time early on, so it does not mean you will lose your pregnancy. Chat Icon Chat Icon

yes - and that's the reason i tell people, if they have the patience to WAIT for that first sono....the wait is TORTURE.

Yes, at 5wk 5d I had an empty sac(although at the time I thought I was in my 6th week-and I had brown spotting to top it off) and at 8w3d(when I thought I was 9 weeks) there was a baby and a heartbeat.

ETA: Next time I get pregnant I will not be going for a sono until I am what I think is 8weeks for this very reason.

My obgyn won't see you before 8 weeks for this very reason. He said to me that he did not want to have me upset by just seeing the empty sack without the fetal pole. Good luck.

Re: Anyone see an empty gestational sac at 6 weeks

Me! at like 6weeks1day I think it was, I went and nothing was there. My doctor did not panic though not even in the slightest bit, I went in at 8 weeks and there he/she was, heartbeat and all. I was measuring small at my 8 week, so he thinks that's why we didn't see anything to begin with. (I have 30 day cycles).

ETA- I would've NEVER went to the doctor earlier but he wanted to see me b/c my morning sickness was so bad but normally he would've never have taken me before 8 weeks.

Re: Anyone see an empty gestational sac at 6 weeks

I go to an RE and they see you every week... at 6 weeks it is just an empty sac...

7 weeks you see a baby and a heartbeat sometimes you can even hear it... but sometimes not until 8 week sono. we saw and heard ours at 7 weeks

8 weeks you should see and hear the heartbeat.

So I think you are totally fine!

Re: Anyone see an empty gestational sac at 6 weeks

Thanks everyone! I was away on vacation last week so I did not see the responses.

I had a sono today and there was a heartbeat! I am thrilled, but the baby is measuring small.. I am pretty sure I know when I conceived and its been more than two weeks since I got BFP but I am only measuring just shy of 6 weeks. SO I am still worried.

Did you track ovulation? If you possibly tested earlier then 2 weeks from ovulation ( conception) you could still be less then 6 weeks along. Maybe ask the Dr. to see if your Betas are rising like they should for peace of mind?

I Hope this is a healthy PG for you! Chat Icon Chat Icon

We also saw nothing in the sac around 6-7 weeks. A few days later it was there. I am now 36 weeks. I know how upsetting and terrifying it can be but try to hang in there. It may just take a bit longer... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

No I did not track ovulation because this baby was completely unplanned. I had to go for infertility for number two and never in a million years thought I could get pregnant on my own. I am pretty sure about my dates though, only because I think I went to the hospital on the night I think I conceived. I actually thought I conceived earlier, but then when nothing was there last week I looked over my calendar and figured that the only other possibility was 3/19 which is exactly 11 days after my period. During infertility treatments I learned that I ovulated on day 11. I really think I should be 6.5 weeks at least.Chat Icon

My betas are rising but they did that even when I had a missed miscarriage...even afterwards until the d&c.

Its funny, I cried when I first found out I was pregnant because its really bad timing and now I am just praying for a healthy baby. Life is crazy sometimes.

Thanks for all your kind words, hugs and prays. I will try to stay optimistic.
