I live in Seaford with Plainedge schools. DH and I moved in December so we are relatively new to the area. The taxes are very high. We are paying over 10K per year.

I live in plainedge school district.
The taxes are a little higher but its is because there is not alot of commericial property to absorb the taxes.
I do not have kids in the district, but all the neighbors on the block do and they rave about it.
We are remodeling out house and making triple the size, i expect our taxes to be about 13-15k when we are done. They are around 7k now

The taxes are a little higher for Plainedge. I was looking at the exact same brick split in Levittown with east Meadow schools and the taxes were only 1000.00 less a year......
Now I live in North Massapequa, Seaford mailing, Plainedge schools......
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.....
I will gladly pay the 10,700 to live where I do.

Ok here is the assessor website.
http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/mynassauproperty/main.jsp
goto Property search:
Accept at bottom
The search is a little picky on street names so just enter the minimum data.
I usually enter the street name and city
You can them pick the correct home from a list
Then you pick the tax tab and look at the past 3 years.
Look down the middle of the page and add the General tax number to the school tax number that is your tax.
School tax ONLY
here is mine
2005 $6,564.06
2006 $7,416.05
2007 $7,484.99
