Anyone have to kennel an aggressive dog??

We are going to Florida for work and have no family members available to take care of Brodie.

We've never kennelled him before and I don't know how this will work.

He's VERY agressive with other dogs. Especially smaller ones (and at 100 pounds, most dogs are smaller than him).

Anyone have experience with this?

What should I look for in a kennel or tell them when I book?

I'm really really worried about this.

I don't know where you're located on the island, but if I were you I would check out some boarding places in advance (which you should ALWAYS do) and explain to them that Brodie is aggressive with other dogs.

They may have a set up where he can be outside but not with the other dogs so he stays out of trouble.

For the most part, I know that most places keep the dogs seperated from each other so his aggression with other dogs shouldn't be much of an issue.

The only thing I think may come into play is that they will want to see if he's aggressive toward humans he doesn't know.

The K-9 Center in Ronkonkoma would be perfect for you. They are great at handling all types of dogs. They train dogs for protection work, Police work and the Kennels have cement walls between each kennel so the dog can see the dogs next to it.

My lhasa is nasty, so I kennel him at Willow Kennel and they make the note and i actually leave him in the run for the time I am gone. the run is 20ft long and although I feel terrible that he has no outside playtime, I would feel worse if he bit someone.

I believe the obedience school where I brought my dog (named BRODY!) for training also boards. They also train police dogs, etc..and my dog is a 115lb Bullmastiff. My dog is not aggressive, but they handle any dog pretty well.. Best Friends Dog Training in Farmingdale. Not sure where you are located?! Good luck, let us know how you make out!
