anyone have a slow cooker recipe for pepper steak and or sausage and peppers that doesnt say to cook on the stove first?

All the recipes i am finding say to cook meat on teh stove then transfer to the slow cooker.

I make pepper steak in my slow cooker all the time, but mine is red sauce based, not soy sauce (not sure what you were looking for). It's based on how my grandmother used to make it (not much too it, but peppers and onions just give so much flavor

1 pkg stew meat
1 red pepper, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
black pepper
1 large can tomato puree

I throw it in and let it cook on low all day, the we eat it over noodles.

ETA... any recipe that tells me to cook it first, i ignore that part and just throw it in the crock pot. Everything always comes out great

they tell you to cook it on the stove first b/c browning the meat before slow cooking adds so much flavor. but you can make it without browning.

this is why I have never used my crock pot. once it's in the pot browning, I see no point in making another dish for me to wash!

Thanks. Yeah I agree, if I have to use the stove might as well just cook the whole thing on the stove .

Is it cooking or just browning? If it is browning you can skip that step.

I browned once, and havent browned anything first ever since. I don't notice a difference in skipping the browning.

I just looked one up. I found it in one of my cookbooks - The Slow Cooker Bible.

I am making it tomorrow.

3 cups bell pepper chunks (mix of red, yellow and green...I used some I froze when they were in season), diced - *I will slice two green and one red bell pepper
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb sweet Italian sausage links
1 cups marinara sauce
1/4 cup red wine (or port)
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp water
1/4 cup Grated Parmesan cheese

Coat slow cooker with cooking spray. Place peppers, onion and garlic in botom. Arrange sausage over veggies. Combine sauce and wine and pour over everything. Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours or high for 4-5 hours. Make sure sausage is no longer pink and veggies are tender.
Transfer sausage to a platter and keep war. Skim fat. Turn heat to high. Mix cornstarch and water and stir until crock pot. Cook 15 minutes or until thickened.

Reviews on-line said it's kind of bland - so I will prob season with italian seasoning.
