Anyone have a family member with mental illness?
Looking for any type of help/support.
I have a close family member with mental illness and it is beyond stressful. She has had it for 30+ years and has been on medication and hospitalized countless times. She has a psychiatrist and therapist that she sees regularly but I do not feel like it is working for her right now. I really want to find her a new psychiatrist, someone that actually cares. Also, if anyone knows of a support group she can attend that would be great. Also I would love to talk to other people that have to care for someone with mental illness for support. Housing is also an issue, she currently lives alone (not on LI) but she wants to move to LI to be closer to me- are there any type of independent housing options for adults with mental illness?
Any type of info about doctors, therapist, support groups, housing etc is greatly appreciated. I want to get her on track and as healthy as she can be, but I feel like no one cares and she needs more support.

Just to clarify a little, although the family member doesn't live on LI she lives close and I see her often and speak to her multiple times a day. I am her primary and basically only support person, so everything falls on me. I have been dealing with her illness my whole life and it is taking it's toll on me :( I really don't know what to do anymore...
