Re: Anyone gone to Disney lately or has booked for an upcoming trip?

I can try to help you. Disney is pretty easy to figure out. There is one set price if you do a package - so if you want a baseline price - go to disney's website and price out your trip there. That will give you an idea. Then generally -there are general disney codes - those are available to anyone - things like free dining or % off the room portion of your package. You can find out if there are any codes available out there by checking mousesavers.com. There are also email or postcard codes that WDW marketing will email or mail to you that are NOT general codes (they can only be used by the person named in the email - i.e. they email me codes in my father's name b.c he used my email last trip when they traveled with us - BUT I can't use their code b.c it is in their name and they don't reside in our household). If you go to their site and sign up for their free DVD and check out some packages you will probably get one of them.6rr

AAA has room only discounts that can be booked through disney themselves OR thru AAA. AAA also has discounts on packages - but those can ONLY be booked through disney.

There is no real advantage to booking WDW with a TA - except that they can take care of everything for you (some will make ADR - dining reservations, and offer you some guidance or answer questions which is helpful if you don't have time or are new to WDW and want help) - but you will get the same prices generally yourself that they get. I haven't used them but I have read that some there are some travel agencies - who will also monitor codes for you and will automatically change your reservation to include the code IF one comes out for your date and you don't have any discounts. Some TAs are good about that - others are not. But for a 1st time traveler or someone who doesn't have time to plan or monitor that is a help.

It is cheaper to book your own airfare then to go through WDW.

Tickets can be purchased without a package and you can get some discounts. If you want the dining plan though you have to get a package. You can often get a room only discount code applied to your package but it only takes the discount off the room not the tickets or the dining plan.

We went last year the first week of Sept and went to the Halloween party. It was fun, the kids got WAY too much candy. We left 75% of it for the maid-lol!!
