Anyone going to plant bulbs soon for the spring?
I was thinking of doing this for the first time.
Thinking of daffodils and tulips. Only thing is, my mom says the squirrels dig them up and eat them (like a delicacy haha) so you have to put something over them? Anyone actually have a technique they use?

Squirrels don't like daffodils - they don't smell or taste good to them. So a lot of people plant them right next to the tulips so that the squirrels are less apt to eat them.
You could also make chicken wire "cages", put the bulbs inside, and plant them that way. But depending on how many you have, that could get time consuming!
I never had a problem, the first year I planted over 100 in my lawn. That might have had something to do with me having bird feeders as a source of food for them instead. 
By the way, if you want to buy online, John Scheeper's and Van Engelen are the best. Whatever you do, don't buy from Breck's.

Ooh, maybe I'll do this.
We get dozens of daffodils every year.
Maybe I'll do tulips.

yup started mine over the weekend
got 3 bulbs of dranculus vulgarus so excited cant wait to see how they do here.

I thought your supposed to plant bulbs in early spring. Don't most people take their bulbs out of the ground for the winter cuz the squirrles get to them?

we planted lots of tulips 7 years ago a few weeks befire my daughter was born (around the end of Oct) and now every Spring when the tulips come up I think of that very exciting time in my life, we also did lilacs and daffodils,( very eastery types of plants

I think you plant them around this time so that they come up in the fall. The squirrels try to get them - but you can use chicken wire I hear to deter them.
