Anyone go from co-sleeping to separate-room-sleeping?

How'd it go?

I just bought a house & will be moving there from my 1-bedroom apt where our 8-month old daughter sleeps in bed with my husband and me. Just curious as to how others did this adjustment.

No experience, but just an idea... Can she start sleeping in the pack-n-play or something next to your bed for now as a transitional type of thing? So it's not like, BAM go sleep in a bed and room by yourself!

Yes, I did.

DS sleeps with me until he was 18 months, then DH did modified CIO so DS would learn to sleep on his own in his crib.

It does work, but DS still sleeps with us when he gets up in the middle of the night. I wouldn't have it any other way and love seeing DS's smiley face when I wake up in the morning.

no problem at all. I would move her into her room if she fell asleep anywhere else. Even at 4m if she wasnt sick (she had constant ear infections) we would move her to her room if she slept.

but after our move to TX I kept her closer. Loved her sitting up and watching us while we slept or Hubby and I would make a 'corral' with our bodies and she'd play there while we snoozed. The smell of her hair as her head was on my shoulder... Chat Icon

But when it was time for the new house, we just went with her room like it was totally normal and no big deal. She took to it fine. Hates our room Chat Icon
