Anyone ever heard of this - urine backing up into kidneys of baby while PG?
My boss just got a call from her Drs (she is high risk anyway) that she has to go in for yet another sono bc now there is urine backing up into the kidneys of the baby?
Anyone ever had this happen or know anything about it?
I feel so bad, she is crying at her desk right now.

yup nephew had it..in boys it may be a small clog but it resolved itself by the time he was born. good luck

yup nephew had it..in boys it may be a small clog but it resolved itself by the time he was born. good luck
They were worried about this with my twins, but it cleared up over 1 month and they were perfect when they were born

Yess had that this pregnancy and it cleared up anise last sono, no worries

They saw that in one of my sono's too. It cleared up. When my DS was born they put him on Amoxicillin (sp?) until it cleared out on it own. He just needed to get a quick sono.

The son of a friend at work who was pregnant at the same time as me had this. She was so worried. He had one kidney that was backed up and the other was fine. He had a small operation when he was a few months old to drain it. I guess it didn't work because she said that one kidney is basically gone and the other is doing all the work. He may need another operation to have the non-working kidney removed.
BUT, he is a very healthy, great kid! He is a few weeks younger than my daughter, but he outweighs her by a few pounds. He is really very healthy, despite the kidney problems. While talking about this at work, we found out another colleague had this and has only one kidney, and is also just fine.

Our ds had this (it's called hydronephrosis) when I had my Level II. When I went for the follow-up w/the specialist a few days later he told me that it's very common w/little boys and that based on my son's #s it looked like everything would resolve itself before he was born & it did. Even if it hadn't, I was told that it is easily fixed w/a simple procedure after birth
