DS is 8.5 months old and having tantrums lately. Like head down on the floor screaming. Also, he's started to go really rigid at times if things don't seem to be going his way. He's very grabby around other babies and will routinely take toys away. But he's also more mobile than most of his peers and can get away with it.

I'm not sure if it's just a phase (we've recently stopped breastfeeding, which may be contributing) or if he's on his way to becoming a total brat. Please be honest with me...! Chat Icon

totally a phase....

although, I will say DD started this "phase" around your DS' age and is still in it! (she's 14 months).

Alot of it is that they are SO much more aware of things now, and want their independence, but still need to 100% depend on us. They get frustrated because they just can't communicate what they want.

THEY know what they want, but we don't and I know it really pizzes them off! Chat Icon

Yes! DS hardly cried and was so easy going... even going to sleep he'd lay there, roll over and go to sleep. At 10 months he changed! His top teeth are taking FOREVER to come in and causing my sweet little guy to wake up every night screaming. Chat Icon

i agree with this. I once read that it is because they cant verbalize what they want so they get frustrated. Now that my almost 3 yr old can talk clearly and actually say what he is feeling...it is better

I would say totally a phase. DS is 8 1/2 months and while he doesn't grab he gets very upset when his older sister grabs from him. To be honest it might be a personality trait coming out ( not a bratty one but maybe a strong personality) as DS seems so much more laid back to me than DD was at that stage.Chat Icon

ITA. DD is 16 mos and can verbalize a lot,but obviously not everything, and when she's frustrated all hell breaks loose...She is also though a bit of a brat, and ultra spoiled so when we clearly know what she wants and she can't have it, we're trying to teach her that she doesn't get everything she wants...Chat Icon

DD is 9.5 months and doesn't really do the grabbing etc with other kids....but she does throw temper tantrums when I won't do what she wants. She will kick her legs and go really rigid and slides down to lay on the floor and cry. Sometimes I give her another toy or something and ignore it which seems to work but other times it doesn't work. She has also started pushing things away. The other day I tried to give her a sippy of water and she pushed it out of my hands! I couldn't believe it!
