Anyone deliver DC at 36 weeks ???

Trying hard not to put the cart before the horse, but OB already told me that if my complete previa doesnt move by 28 weeks (give or take) that I will be scheduled for my c-section at 36 weeks...My DS was 38.5 weeks- Just wondering if you have any birth stories (I'll hear all the good and bad - just trying to prepare for worst case scenario Chat Icon ) Thanks !

He was a good weight. Had to say in the hospital for a week but otherwise no major issues.

If they schedule you for 36 weeks, they will probably want to do an amnio to make sure the lungs are mature enough. They will wait if the lungs are not ready. The ability to use the amnio for this can prevent a lot of problems. I had my DS at 36 weeks. His lungs were ready. We had other complications that resulted in him being in the NICU but he is a healthy boy now.

36 weeks to the day son came in weighting 5 pounds 11oz. No problems other than jaundice. He is and was perfect. If babies lungs are not developed they will prob give you the steroid shot to make sure all is well. But they say within four weeks of you due date and baby is not considered premature. Good luck

DD was 36wks exactly. She weighed 6lbs 1oz, perfect health and didn't need to go to NICU. She came home with me 3 days later.

I had a scheduled c/s due to her being breech and low amnio fluid.
I was also given steriods at 32 wks to help with her lung development.

HTH!

ITA. I had a complete previa from 12w and in order for the hospital to approve a c-section that early I had to begin amnios at 36 weeks. Gs lungs were not yet mature so I went back at 37w3d & went into labor at the Drs office.

Thanks for the info everyone ...I'll have to inquire about the amnio- he never mentioned it but did say that he would begin me on steroids at 28 weeks if the previa was still there (Chat Icon it goes bye-bye !)

I had this even having to deliver at 37 weeks. DD's lungs were mature and delivered 37 weeks on the nose
