Vermont (Equinox hotel in Manchester)
NYC (Marriott marquee time square) Get the Escape package it includes dinner for two, breakfast for two and champagne and chocolates in your room. We have done this twice and we are going again in two weeks.

I've heard good things about the Buttermilk Falls Inn - about an hour or two outside of NYC.

We love Newport -- a rather short drive from the Orient-New London Ferry. Our favorite B&B there is the Cliffside. There are many options there!

I was also going to suggest Newport! We visited there in Feb for their winter festival and had so much fun! I'd imagine it would be even better in August! The ride isn't bad...we even stopped at Clinton Crossing out lest in CT on the way back!

DH & I went there in October. The place is gorgeous but be ready for a QUIET weekend! When we went, it was a business trip, but we were not prepared for No TV. Plus they had guards walking around & taking drinks out of your hand if you were walking around the hallway on your way outside with an alcoholic beverage! While it was a nice getaway with the scenary & what not, I don't think DH & I would go back there! WAY too much relaxation & quiet for us!
