Any gardeners here? Orchid growers?
It started with one innocent Phalenopsis orchid from Trader Joe's. Now I have 21 of them in my living room.
This is the empty case, last year:
The full case, last year (16 orchids):
The case, last month (23 orchids):
I know people who have thousands, THOUSANDS! of orchids. So as long as I'm only in double-digits, I feel better. 
Anyone else garden or grow orchids??

wow i use to be florist they are very hard to bloom they are beautiful .. now is that case made for the orchids?

Yup! It's from orchidarium.com. I have 6 hot/cool fluorescents, two fans, a hygrometer/thermometer, and a humidifier. Besides watering them once a week with weak fertilizer and misting the mounted ones daily, I don't have to do anything else! It's great, I love it.
This was my old setup, a 27 gallon aquarium!

I've been growing orchids for years, and love them!!!
I honestly don't do anything but water them once a week in spring, and once every 10-12 days in the winter. I think mine do very well because I have a lot of natural light in my house.
Bayport flower house used to carry some really exotic orchids, but I haven't seen any in a while.

Kathy, they're beauties! The one on the top right, the paphiopedilum, is that a 'black cherry'? I love them, I wanted to get one but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Have you ever been to the NY International Orchid Show at Rockefeller Center? I've been going for 3 years, I love it!
Sami, do you have any windows that face south? Anything that you find in Trader Joe's will most likely want that kind of sun exposure.
OTG, the quesadilla delivery guy said the very same thing to me the first time he saw my orchidarium. Even started asking me technical questions about it, where I got it.

Let us know what you get! They usually have the orchid in a plastic pot, inside a terracotta pot. The name is written on the side of the plastic pot.
The middle photo above is a Trader Joe orchid.

Wow they are beautiful! I had 5 plants but now I am down to 1. I am not doing well with them at all. I would love to get into growing them. I went to the Orchid show at the NY botanical gardens back in May I think it was. It was great.

Sami, did you ever pick up that orchid?
Irish, I love the NYBG - I go there a few times a year. I've never been to their orchid show because they make photographers come on a weekday and pay extra!
I've been to the NY International Orchid Show at Rockefeller Center the past three years though. That show is insane, I love it!
