Another window treatment question... are sheers outdated?

I found a rod that will work with my large window area in the living room.

DH and I really like having NOTHING on the windows but it does look incomplete/unfinished. We do not need anything for privacy. I suggested sheer panels and DH thinks they are outdated? Are they?
This is the panel we liked from JC Penney. Like the picture below but we are thinking of gray instead of the color shown (can't get that pic to post). How would this look on the rod I posted above?

I like sheers, I don't think those look outdated,...imo ones with lace or flowery patterns on them would be outdated. Those look pretty modern to me actually b/c of the gromets, I could see it with a oil rubbed bronze rod, go for it!

I'm not a fan of sheers BUT, I really like the ones you found.

I hope not because I have sheers! Haha

I love the ones you picked! Where'd you find the rod?

I saw the rod first on bed bath & beyond's website. they also have it on amazon.com.

i just remeasured and am not sure it will work - the measurements are exact to the max size..... might have to find a bigger one.

I think if you want it to look bright and airy the sheer would look great on windows like that. I would hate to cover that up with dark shades.

I couldn't decide on window treatments for my formal living room (which has northern exposure, so I didn't want it to be too dark). In the end, I just went with sheers. I like them, and I think it works. It's a nice counterbalance to my formal dark wood furniture with rich colored fabrics. Lightens the room up a bit.

I would do the sheers - you have beautiful windows!

I have some odd shaped windows like that. You can do one rod for each window, you don't need to buy a specially configured one.

I am not one to cover up the windows either. Sheers are a good option.

I can't... that would be a lot easier! The pic of my actual window (not on this post, on the other post) shows there is no room either above the windows or to the sides to mount rods that have any ball or decorative finial end or whatever they are called. I ended up ordering this one instead because the BBB one was a little too short. I hope it looks ok!
