Another shark attack in Florida prompts this question...
What are the chances here on Long Island? I know they are out there. But how far???

You never know...there have been shark attacks in Jersey, I think because of all the mass fishing and overall global warming sharks are venturing more north than they ever have....so it is quite possible.

Never say never is my philosophy. A few years ago (maybe '01 or '02) a dead baby shark was found in an inlet that ran from Little Neck Bay in Queens. That's fresh water, if I recall correctly. I never swam around there and it was just a baby but I remember that officials in the area were very surprised.

They cleared the water in Amagansett on Saturday because of a shark. This is the third time in a couple of weeks.

I know they are out there, but what do you think the chances are of an attack? My mom has told me of encounters her friends have had while surfing, but still.
