Another girl part question tmi

DD's breasts (sorry, can't think of a better newborn-appropriate term) are really swollen. Like so swollen that even my BIL who came over tonight noticed.....they are really hard and sticking up. Is this normal?? TIA.

Totally normal.. When my DD was 3 weeks old, it looked like she had tiny golf balls for boobs. They were hard too, but they went away in a few days.

Yes, DD had the same thing and the doctor said it was normal.I think it has something to do with our hormones that are still in her body.

DD is 13 months old and still has "puffy" nipples. Ped said it is fine as long as it doesn't continue into puberty. My sister had the same on one side until she was around 3 years old. My mom nicknamed her "boob" and still calls her that sometimes (she's 29 years old!).

My DD had that too. The ped said it was from my hormones still in her body.

She also said not to rub them or anything. It'll go away on it's own.

My DS had this also from my hormones still being in his system. (His left nipple was a little swollen.) The ped said it was normal. I had heard about our hormones affecting the girls, but I hadn't realized that it could also affect the boys! It resolved itself by about 4 wks.

Re: Another girl part question tmi

Totally normal- my DD's are just starting to go down. It's from your hormones. Maddie even got a "pseudo-period" while she was still in the hospital. My poor DH freaked when he opened her tiny diaper and it was red/pink. Interestingly, the nurse called it "brickdust"....
